24-03-2025
On March 19, 2025, the National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) had the honor of hosting a delegation from Norway, including the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Poland, His Excellency Øystein Bø, and 16 members of the Norwegian Parliament’s Energy and Environment Committee (Stortingets Energi- og miljøkomite). The delegation was led by Ms. Ingvild Kjerkol, Chair of the Committee.
The purpose of the visit was to learn about Poland’s achievements in nuclear research. The guests met with the Director of NCBJ, Prof. Dr hab. Krzysztof Kurek, who presented the Institute’s activities, its contributions to the development of nuclear energy, and the international research projects it participates in.
A key highlight of the visit was a tour of the MARIA research reactor, the only facility of its kind in Poland. This reactor plays a crucial role in nuclear technology research, the production of medical isotopes, and the training of personnel for the nuclear industry.
During the meeting, participants discussed the exchange of experiences in the operation and modernization of research reactors, as well as conducting research on new applications of nuclear technologies. Special attention was given to potential cooperation in nuclear safety and the development of technologies supporting the sustainable growth of the energy sector.
