DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION
The work tasks of a postdoctoral researcher are comprised primarily of research intended to deepen and expand the field of research, for this position the research is within the scope defined by the HPC-Phot project. The work tasks include duties relating to teaching and supervision up to 10 % of the working hours. The postdoctoral researcher will be a member of a collaborative research team and the position is located in Turku.
In this recruitment, we are looking for a researcher with expertise in numerical solving of physics problems described by differential equations. Experience in performing computations in a computational cluster environment is a merit. Experience of numerical solving of the Maxwell equations to describe light-scattering in nanostructures is also a merit, and a further merit is if it has been done with the finite-difference time-domain method (FDTD) or the Fourier modal method (FMM).
QUALIFICATIONS AND EVALUATION
In accordance with the Personnel Regulations of ÅAU, a postdoctoral researcher is required to hold a Doctor’s degree in a relevant field and pedagogical competence. As a rule, the time elapsed since taking the Doctor’s degree should not exceed four years (a copy of the diploma of a doctoral degree should be submitted in the application).
When assessing the applicant’s qualifications for the position, the following criteria will be taken into consideration:
- Scientific competence (70%), including achieved academic merits and scholarly publications in the relevant scientific field, relevance of the research plan with regard to the goals in the HPC-Phot project, and previous participation in research projects.
- Interactive competence (20%) including academic leadership skills, administrative experience, co-operative skills, the ability to interact with the surrounding society, as well as international collaboration within the relevant research field.
- Pedagogical competence (10%), including teaching and supervision experience, experience in teaching planning and development, university pedagogical studies or equivalent.
Good oral and written skills in English are necessary for successfully managing the duties of the positions.
