24-11-2025
Professor Katarzyna Nowakowska-Langier, Director of the Research Infrastructure Department at NCBJ, was honoured with this year's Professor Kazimierz Bartel Scientific Award for outstanding achievements in science, with a focus on physics. The medal was awarded during a ceremony held by the Senate of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków on Friday, 21 November 2025.
The award was established in 2016 as part of the celebrations of Prof. Antoni Hoborski's Science Day at AGH University of Science and Technology. It is awarded for outstanding achievements and aims to promote the beauty of science. It is awarded to young independent scientists who have achieved international success in research in areas that, in contemporary interpretation, were among the scientific interests of its patron.
The Prof. Kazimierz Bartel Foundation was established in 2008 on the initiative of the professor's daughter, Ms Cecylia Bartel. It promotes historical knowledge, introducing the figures of great Poles, as well as cultivating the memory of Prof. Kazimierz Bartel – an outstanding mathematician and former Prime Minister of the Second Polish Republic. The foundation also promotes noble ideas such as philanthropy and the active participation of young people in interesting projects aimed at educational development, but above all at deepening empathic sensitivity.
We would like to congratulate Professor Nowakowska-Langier on receiving this award!
