The National Centre for Nuclear Research and the Central Mining Institute – National Research Institute in Katowice are strengthening their cooperation to support Poland’s energy transition and the development of a modern energy security system.

During the meeting, representatives of both institutions emphasized that, in the face of the largest transformation of the energy sector in decades, close cooperation between leading research institutions is of crucial importance. Only strong institutional partnerships will enable the effective development of the country’s technological capabilities, strengthen Poland’s energy independence, and build a lasting expert base for the state’s strategic investments.

The discussions also covered joint research and development activities in the field of radiological protection and public safety in connection with the implementation of Poland’s nuclear energy programme. NCBJ and GIG declared their readiness to combine their scientific, expert, and infrastructural potential in order to develop modern solutions supporting the safe development of nuclear energy.

Cooperation between research institutions of strategic importance to the state is today one of the foundations of an effective energy transition and the development of a resilient and secure energy system for Poland.
