NCBJ scientists at the International Atomic Energy Agency conference
06-05-2026
A conference on radiation protection – the Regional Workshop on Methodologies for Assessing Worker Dose in Industrial Processes involving NORM – is taking place in Tajikistan from 4 to 8 May. The international panel of experts includes scientists from the NCBJ’s Radiation Protection Measurements Laboratory.
The event focuses on comparing current methodologies and best practices used to estimate the radiation doses to which workers occupationally exposed to naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM) are subjected. It provides an opportunity for specialists from Europe and Central Asia to exchange experiences in the field of radiation protection, particularly in NORM-related industries such as mining, oil and gas extraction and processing, and water treatment.
The conference features lectures by representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency, as well as panel discussions, presentations by experts from around the world, and thematic meetings. Poland is represented by scientists from the NCBJ's Radiation Protection Measurements Laboratory. Together with other specialists in this field, they will strive to develop a harmonious regional approach to radiation protection matters for employees working in areas where they are exposed to ionising radiation.
