It’s the season for festivals, events, and science picnics. At many of these events, you can meet the team from the NCBJ’s Education and Training Division, who educate everyone interested about radiation and its presence in our daily lives.
In mid-June, the National Centre for Nuclear Research took part in the 29th Science Picnic named after Prof. Łukasz Turski. In line with this year’s theme – “Lifelike” – staff from the Education and Training Division talked about radiation in living organisms, including the radioisotopes found in our bodies and the thermal radiation we emit. They also discussed the radioactivity that surrounds us every day. Guests also had the chance to learn interesting facts about the lives of scientists. Despite the unpredictable weather, the NCBJ tent attracted a lot of attention!
We also had the chance to meet with you in Olsztyn, thanks to the “Olsztyn LOVE Science” event. It was a one-day, open-to-the-public science picnic aimed at bringing together the academic, educational, and community sectors. Residents of Olsztyn and the surrounding area, as well as visitors from outside the region, had the opportunity to experience an unforgettable encounter with the world of science, education, and culture. Among the many engaging booths presented by students, science communicators, researchers, and others passionate about discovering and sharing knowledge was the National Centre for Nuclear Research’s stand. The team from the Education and Training Division satisfied curiosity, sparked interest, and entertained visitors of all ages – from children and teenagers to students, adults, and seniors.
