Andrzej Duda, President of the Republic of Poland, nominated his first batch of Professors on September 16, 2015. Michał Spaliński from NCBJ Theoretical Physics Division was among the new Professors.
Professor Spaliński born in Warsaw graduated at the Warsaw University Physics Faculty in 1983. In 1988 at the same University he defended his PhD thesis on strong interactions physics (tutor: Professor Stefan Pokorski). Between 1990-1992 Humboldt Foundation fellow in Munich and CERN. Fulbright Foundation fellow in Harvard in 1997. Employed in NCBJ. Scientific interests: string theory and its applications in elementary particle physics and cosmology.
In his address given during the ceremony the President assured new professors that he felt very honoured having the opportunity to hand over so important nominations. He also pointed out that Professor titles should by no means be regarded as top points of professional careers, but rather as starting points of new exciting phases in their scientific work.
