It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Andrzej Hofman, Ph.D. - a long-time employee of the Institute of Atomic Energy in Świerk and the National Centre for Nuclear Research - on 17 August 2020. Professor Hofman was Head of the Department XIV Nuclear Fuels and Structural Materials at the IBJ, and then of the Department of E-VI Reactor Materials at the IEA. Most recently, he was employed as an Associate Professor at the NCBJ Materials Research Laboratory. At the Świerk centre, he has gone through his entire research career from the position of assistant to associate professor. Author of numerous publications in the field of materials engineering of nuclear fuels and reactor structural materials. An outstanding educator and award-winning scientist, he worked closely with the United Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna for many years. 

We have lost a man of immense knowledge and experience, a reliable researcher, a well-liked and respected colleague.

The farewell will take place on Monday, 24 August 2020 at 13:00 in the Chapel of the Resurrection in the Southern Communal Cemetery in Antoninowo.
