NCBJ scientists among the Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists List 2025
22-09-2025
The Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientist List is a prestigious annual ranking of scientists who make significant contributions to the advancement of global science. Its latest edition has just been published, once again featuring a group of researchers from the National Centre for Nuclear Research.
The ranking, prepared by Stanford University in collaboration with publishing house Elsevier, covers achievements from the last year and the entire scientific career. The scientists represent 22 scientific fields and as many as 174 research areas, covering a wide range of global research. The assessment is based on a number of indicators, including the number of citations, co-authorship of articles, the Hirsch index, and the authors' positions in scientific institutions. In this way, the ranking provides a more accurate reflection of the actual impact of the scientists' work.
For years, scientists from the National Centre for Nuclear Research have also had a permanent place in the ranking. This year's edition of Stanford Top 2% Scientists includes:
- Prof. Stanisław Mrówczyński, PhD, from the NCBJ Theoretical Physics Division, Director of the Department of Fundamental Research
- Dr Gillaume Beuf from the NCBJ Theoretical Physics Division
- Prof. Grzegorz Wilk from the NCBJ Theoretical Physics Division
- Prof. Leszek Roszkowski from the NCBJ Theoretical Physics Division

- Prof. Mariusz Dąbrowski from the NCBJ Laboratory for Nuclear Energy and Environmental Analyses
- Prof. Andrzej Królak from the NCBJ Astrophysics Division
- The late Prof. Marek Moszyński, long-time employee of the NCBJ Radiation Detectors and Plasma Diagnostics Division
In previous editions of the ranking, a number of additional researchers from NCBJ were included,
some of whom are:
- Dr Ryszard Broda from the POLATOM Radioisotope Centre
