Kuopio, Finland
We are seeking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to work on an ERC Consolidator Grant project entitled ‘Quantitative Tomography Using Coupled Physics of Waves’. The project will be conducted in the research team of Professor Tanja Tarvainen in the Computational Physics and Inverse Problems Group. As our new researcher, you will be working at the Department of Technical Physics (Kuopio campus) in the Faculty of Science, Forestry and Technology.
As our new Postdoctoral Researcher, your main responsibilities will include:
- Developing numerical approximations for equations describing light and ultrasound propagation in a biological tissue
- Developing methods of computational inverse problems for imaging from coupled physics of light and ultrasound
- Computational modelling of ultrasound modulated diffuse optical tomography imaging setup
- Collaborating with other members of the research team, especially related to development of an experimental measurement setup
- Authoring high-quality scientific papers
In this role, you will have the opportunity to conduct research in the field of computational modelling and inverse problems, specifically by developing numerical methods for modelling light and ultrasound propagation, and related inverse problem of coupled physics tomography. The Postdoctoral Researcher will work under supervision of Professor Tanja Tarvainen and in close collaboration with the members of her research team.
Requirements
- The person to be appointed as Postdoctoral Researcher is required to hold a doctoral degree from an applicable field, e.g. in applied mathematics, scientific computing, computer science, computational physics. The doctoral degree, may not have been completed more than five years ago at the time of accepting the position (a net period of time, which does not include parental leaves, military service etc.)
